A Filipino who was among those suffering from Thailand’s worst flooding in 50 years died after being electrocuted, InterAksyon.com learned Tuesday from the Philippine Embassy.
Arnolfo Fernandez was electrocuted while he was wading through Bangkok’s flooded streets. He is the first reported Filipino fatality in the country’s flooding, which was partly caused by the unusually heavy monsoon rains that killed 373 people since July 2011 and affected the lives of close to 2.5 million individuals.
“It has been confirmed that our brother, the late Arnolfo Fernandez, died from electrocution. He becomes the first flooding casuaty in our tightly-knit and deeply united community,” said a message from the victim’s family.
